A new leak appears to confirm that AMD will soon unveil a flagship Fury series graphics card that is touted to be more powerful than NVIDIA's GTX Titan X. Packing "4096 graphics cores and 12 teraflops of single precision compute horsepower, the supposedly Vega 10-powered Fury Pro GPU will likely unveil soon and set for an early 2017 release date, a new report said.

The leak was hinted by a recently discovered AMD Crimson driver code, which according to WCCFTech, practically confirmed that the chipmaker will soon introduce the Vega 10 platform. The report added that Vega 10 will be made public before the end of 2016 and the upcoming Fury Pro card will be among the banner GPUs to come from the company.

As mentioned above, Fury Pro is seen to outmuscle the GTX Titan X as it will boast of 12-teraflops of computing power. WCCFTech said that the same card will be the first to showcase AMD's V9.0 architecture, which in turn is the sequel to the current GCN platform.

"But because how much of a significant overhaul it is you can almost call it GCN 2.0," the report noted.

Users can expect that the 12TFLOPS AMD card will deliver smooth desktop gaming experience in 4K with its 4096 graphic cores. And compared to the RX 480 and RX 580, the Fury Pro is listed with up to 16GB of installed RAM plus bandwidth throughput of 512Gbps. But all three cards are in 14-nanometer process.

However, the report did not mention pricing details on Fury Pro, which will have to go against the GTX Titan X that NVIDIA sells for $1200 a pop.

What's certain at the moment is that AMD will formally launch the Vega 10 Fury Pro around November or December 2016, an event that likely will happen as "either a public one or behind closed doors," WCCFTech said. But a grand introduction is anticipated in January next year with the big possibility that AMD will make use of the Las Vegas 2017 CES as launch pad.

And going by the recent clues dropped by AMD CEO Lisa Su that Vega 10 will hit the market in the first half of 2017, the countdown for the Radeon Fury PRO release date will start as early as February.
