The Edge of Tomorrow received an overwhelming success when it was released in 2014, and just when many thought there would be no sequel, Doug Liman confirmed otherwise.

Collider reported that the highly-acclaimed director said that he will have a different approach in The Edge of Tomorrow 2. According to him, he will make a "sequel unlike anybody else." Rumor has it that Liman will try to make a sequel, which is at the same time a prequel.

Aside from previous confirmation that Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt will reprise their roles as Major William "Bill" Cage and Sergeant Rita Rose Vrataski, the plot and storyline of The Edge of Tomorrow 2 remains a mystery.

The fact, however, that Christopher McQuarrie will be working on to the second part of the movie as screenwriter says a lot about what can be expected in part two of the movie. McQuarrie is known for his action-packed projects such as "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" and "The Way of the Gun.

For those who have not watched the movie, The Edge of Tomorrow is a military science fiction where Cruise, a Public Relations officer, is the protagonist. He accidentally turned into a soldier to face war against the oppositions. Later, he met and trained under the war-bound soldier played by Blunt. He was trained to the live-die-repeat situation which became popular after the movie.

With the confident declaration from the director himself, the movie is expected to be better than the original. And the fact that Liman, who is known to be not so fond of doing sequels, made The Edge of Tomorrow 2 as an exception is something to look forward to.

The script for Edge of Tomorrow 2 is being worked on by Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel, with still an undetermined specific release date.
