Phone maker Huawei has recently launched its latest premium smartphone designed to be at par with Samsung and Apple devices -- the Huawei Mate 9.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the new Huawei flagship phone will hit the U.S. market in January, citing an anonymous source. Initially, it will be available in 12 countries, including China and other Asian, Middle Easter and European markets.The Huawei Mate 9 price is set at $776.

The device features a unibody metal frame and a huge 5.9-inch, 1080p screen.

One of the main attractions in the Huawei Mate 9 specs is the dual-lens camera the firm co-developed with German camera maker, Leica. For photography enthusiasts, the new gadget comes handy as the camera boasts of 12-megapixel RGB sensors as well as 20-megapixel monochrome sensor.

Similar with iPhone 7 plus, the two cameras are arranged vertically. It can also detect faces through its auto-focus feature.

Huawei also claims that Mate 9 has a fast-charging technology equipped in its 4000 mAh battery, which can provide power in only 20 minutes.

The latest Huawei device is powered by the firm's own high-end mobile processor, Kirin 960. The chip has the ARM Mali G71, an integrated graphics processing unit, and has eight cores that run four A53 CPUs and four ARM Cortex-A73.

Adding a new artificial intelligence feature, the company hopes that its freshest offering will make it more intuitive for users. Apart from the AI, Huawei noted that almost half of the Mate 9's features will be accessible with only two clicks.

Arne Herkelmann, Huawei's European chief for handset portfolio and planning, shared that Mate 9 promises better service as "learns how you use your phone." One special feature lets the gadget adapt to the habits of its users and put the most used apps within easy reach automatically.

With Mate 9, Huawei eyes to sit at the higher end of the $400 billion global smartphone industry.
