AMD and NVIDIA have been known to be competing in the graphics card industry since then. Now, these two tech giants are expected to release its newest graphics card namely: AMD Radeon RX 490 and NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti.

University Herald had learned that the Radeon RX 490 might be launched alongside with GTX 1080 Ti at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in January next year.

When it comes with the specs, Mobile & Apps made a clear comparison between the two graphics card. The AMD Radeon RX 490 munches 225 Watts to run against 180 Watts for the GTX 1080 Ti. Aside from that, AMD's GPU is predicted to work a little bit cooler because the RX 490 is 2 nm smaller than the GTX 1080 Ti.

Nevertheless, AMD outscores the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti as it has a powerful architecture that is consists of 12 teraflops, while the latter only has 10. But then, despite the fact the GTX 1080 Ti is anticipated to come with only 10 teraflops of power, its base clock is at 1,607 MHz and can be boosted to 1,733 MHz.

The NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti is also predicted to be packed with a memory of 12GB GDDR5X on a 320-bit bus. This will make the product definitely more powerful that its competitor Radeon RX 490. The AMD's pride is rumored to have 16 GB HBM2, on a 4,906-bit bus. Additionally, Radeon RX 490 might have 1,200 MHz base clock speed but the RX 490's boost clock is unknown.

Compared to the AMD Radeon RX 490, the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti is going to be based on the Pascal architecture which was unveiled earlier this year. This will be the advanced version of the GTX 1080 which happens to be the first ever Pascal-based chip.

For the availability the AMD Radeon RX 490 could arrive as early as on November 2017, while the GTX 1080 Ti is anticipated to hit the market shelves early 2017.
