Chinese actress and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" star Fan Bingbing has signed with a new agency, CAA. The move is considered a good timing as Chinese influence is growing in Hollywood and film studios are putting some "Chinese elements" into their productions.

Viewers in the United States know the Chinese star as Blink in the 2014 fantasy thriller "X-Men: Days of Future Past," but she has been famous in her country since mid-1990s. She starred in the local hit television comedy series "My Fair Princess." She was also in "Cell Phone," China's highest grossing film in 2003 as well as in "The Empress of China," one of the most expensive films ever by her own 2007-founded Fan Bingbing Studio.

Fan acted in Renny Harlin's "Skiptrace" alongside Johnny Knoxville and martial arts icon Jackie Chan, another U.S. and China favorite. The U.S.-China co-production raked $62 million in China on its opening and grossed about $134 million to date.

The 35-year-old actress is in this year's Chinese comedy "I am Not Madame Bovary" which had won her Best Actress at the San Sebastian Film Festival. Her role in the movie has her running for another best actress award at this year's Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Directed by Feng Xiaogang, "I Am Not Madame Bovary" will open on Nov. 18 through Well Go USA.

Fan will act as a mermaid opposite Pierce Brosnan in the upcoming fantasy sci-fi "The King's Daughter." Formerly titled "The Moon and the Sun," the film tells the story of King Louis Xiv in 17th century France and his search for immortality.

Fan is a fashion icon, pop singer and philanthropist in China. She holds lucrative endorsement deals, notably the ones with Louis Vuitton, Chopard and L'Oreal.

The Asian A-lister is No. 5 in Forbes' 2016 list of the world's highest-paid actresses, trailing Jennifer Lawrence, Melissa McCarthy, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Aniston with $17 million earnings. She also topped the magazine's list of China Celebrity 100 in 2013 and 2014.
