Melissa McCarthy, 46, shocked fans across the globe with her significant weight loss. Recently, the "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" actress finally revealed how she lost 75 pounds in just a couple of months.


It was revealed McCarthy's hours of consistent workouts and high-protein, low-carb diet plan were vital for accomplishing the 75-pound weight loss, as per Foods 4 Better Health. She followed an eating regimen that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and nuts for these can apparently boost her metabolism.

McCarthy's breakfast includes grilled chicken, four scrambled egg whites, and almond milk. A late morning snack is steamed broccoli with pepper and garlic, while her launch includes a quinoa blend, grilled chicken and a cup of green tea. For dinner, she would have a steamed veggies and lean grass fed beef topped with avocado.

In addition to that, McCarthy makes sure to balance her daily meals with an intake of two cups of green tea, one during her morning snack and the other at lunch. She also maintained low insulin levels for 12 hours every day and kept herself hydrated by drinking a glass of water with lemon.

Focusing on high-intensity interval training (HIIT) has also helped McCarthy in shedding pounds. Her workout routine includes rope skipping, rowing, burpees, martial arts and a special mix of resistance training exercises. The actress then takes a break on the weekends after a five-day intensive workout.

As per McCarthy, the real trick to getting in shape is to have a boring life by going to bed at 7:30 PM. She also told Life & Style Weekly that she was able to shed the weight when she quit dwelling on her size and that she wants to set a good example for her daughters, Georgette and Vivian.

"I truly stopped worrying about it," she shared. "I think there's something to kinda loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely, has worked."
