Fans of “Descendants of the Sun” actress Song Hye Kyo are waiting for her 35th birthday on Nov. 22 if co-star Song Joong-ki would propose marriage to her because he did not during the actress’s fan meet on Nov. 13 in Seoul.

Followers of the SongSong couple would, by now, have gotten use to the steady stream of speculations about the couple, ranging from secretly dating to being in a romantic relationship and even pregnancy rumors. However, the speculations took a bizarre twist when iTech asked if Song Joong-ki is actually gay and using only Song Hye Kyo to hide his alleged different sexual preference.

A lot of actors have been questioned about being gay, but the speculations about Song Joong-ki’s sexuality is not exactly new. Movienewsguide cited several instances when doubts about the 31-year-old’s masculinity have been raised. On top of the doubts was his role in the series “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” where his character, a gay, fell in love with the role Yoo Ah In played.

In fact, Yoo Ah In is just one of the several Korean actors linked to Song Joong-ki who loves to tease fans by having bromance moments with them in fan meets or advertisements. At the Shanghai fan meet, it was with Kim Jong Kook with whom he “flirted.”

Then it was Lee Kwang Soo’s name which he engraved in a stone in Greece while filming “Descendants of the Sun.” But his last Domino’s Pizza ad partnered Song Joong-ki with Park Bo Gum in bromance-themed TV and print commercials. Add as well to the list “Running Man” co-star Lee Kwang Soo and “Descendants of the Sun” BFF Jin Goo.

It also does not help that prior to “Descendants of the Sun,” Song Joong-ki was known for his pretty face, but that perception changed when he played the role of an Army captain in the 16-episode drama after he completed the 21-month compulsory military service.

Like the dating, marriage proposal and other rumors that swirl around him, the actor just shrugs off those rumors and prefers to be silent about his love life. Meanwhile, Chatttsportsnet noted that more macho roles are coming Song Joong-ki’s way, particularly in the two forthcoming movies – “Battleship Island” and “Train to Busan 2.”
