Xbox Scorpio has been in the rumor mills for quite some time, but now the gaming console is slated to hit the market shelves in 2017. The upcoming device from Microsoft is expected to feature true 4K display.

Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro just hit the market shelves last week, GameSpot has learned.  On the other hand, the Microsoft's Project Scorpio console is scheduled to arrive around the holiday season in 2017. Now, Xbox executive Aaron Greenberg has confirms that the upcoming Xbox console is capable of delivering really true 4K.

Greenberg said at this weekend's Xbox FanFest in Mexico City that this will "really bring the most powerful console you've ever seen." He added that it will bring true 4K to the table compared to other consoles in the future which may only use a scaled down version.

"People who have spent thousands of dollars on a high-end PC are getting that experience. How do we bring that to scale in a console in your living room? That's a big part of what Project Scorpio is about, " said Greenberg.

Furthermore, Microsoft has been very intense to talk about the Scorpio's added power when compared with the PS4 Pro, Game Rant reported. Microsoft executive Albert Penello has advised that the company aspired a little bit higher through pushing the limitations of console gaming with the project. There were speculations that Sony's console is not "true" 4K gaming, although the Japanese tech giant has claimed that its future compatibility plans are not deceptive.

Upon purchase of Xbox Scorpio on its release the consumers should also know that the device will also need a 4K television to get the full impact of its added power. That is possibly the reason why Microsoft has been serious to also encourage the flexibility of the console, such as its Xbox 360 backward compatibility.
