"Your Name" was written and directed by Makoto Shinkai which is based on his novel of the same title.  It focuses on two teenagers, Mitsuha Miyamizu and Taki Tachibana, who, for unknown reasons, swap bodies.

They are able to communicate with each other through notes and journal entries, and an unusual relationship develops. However, Taki later realizes that they are no longer switching. He tries to find Mitsuha but learns that the latter was among the fatalities of a comet strike three years ago. Because their timelines are not in sync, he tries to find a way to save Mitsuha and her village before the comet strikes.

The film has been warmly received in Japan, holding the No. 1 spot for the 12th week. According to Variety, it has so far earned $171 million, raking in $2.4  million on Nov. 12 and 13. It has already won several awards, including Best Animated Feature Length Film at the 49th Sitges Film Festival and the Arigatō Award for Shinkai at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival.

The movie was submitted to the Oscars for consideration in the Best Animated Feature category at the 89th Academy Awards, Anime News Network reported. From the list of submissions, five films will be chosen by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for nomination.

The English dubbed version features the voices of Michael Sinterniklaas as Taki and Stephanie Sheh as Mitsuha.  Other characters are voiced by Kyle Herbert, Cassandra Morris, Ben Pronsky, Ray Chase, among others.
