Niantic Labs is reportedly releasing a big Pokémon GO update this coming December that for the most part is designed to redefine the gameplay of the popular augmented reality-centric mobile game. There will be new Pokemon characters, including the so-called Legendaries and Generation 2 evolution, and new ways to play the game.

Among the new features to be added is PvP Battle, which as the name suggests will allow players to pick up a one-on-one fight using their favorite Pokemon. It is understood that PvP is different from the usual Gym Battle but how exactly the report by Gamenguide did not mention.

Also in the cards is the Trading feature that Niantic has earlier teased. Following the update, Trading can be used to swap Mons with other players, which will be useful for gamers with duplicate characters on their collection. Too, the feature will give players the chance to snap up Pokemon that prove hard to hunt and catch for them.

The same report suggested that come December, Niantic will unleash the Generation 2 Pokemon, which according to BGR aligns with an earlier report that indicated there will be at least 100 new Mons to join in the fun in time for the next application update. Of course, this fresh bunch of Pokemon will have to be hunted down.

BGR added on its report that the Pokemon GO tracking tool is likely to be reactivated soon as Niantic is testing the feature for supposed redeployment.

But what really excites is the claim by Gamenguide that of the 100 new Pokemon set for introduction, there will be Legendary characters. Specifically mentioned for December is the God-tier Tyranitar, described by the report to possess "the maximum combat power of 3654 and it is extremely powerful."

If true that Tyranitar will be outed in the coming weeks "players can assume that this is the new Dragonite in Pokemon GO Gen 2," the report added.

And there will be Baby Pokemon and the feature intro will reportedly pave the way for the gradual exit of Poke Egg and Hatching as the Mons in baby form can be grown into full-form Pokemon. Gamenguide said the following baby Mons will soon come out:

  • Pichu - Pikachu
  • Cleffa - Clefairy
  • Magby - Magmar
  • Elekid - Electabuzz
  • Igglybuff - Jigglypuff
  • Smoochum - Jynx and Tyrogue that can both evolve into Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan or Hitmontop
