Samsung's first flagship release in 2017, the Galaxy S8, appears to have been dislodged as the first smartphone to rock Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon 835 SoC. A new report claimed that the honor will go to the rumored Android flagship Oppo Find 9.

The Oppo Find 9 is supposedly the follow up to the Oppo Find 7, blog site Tech Grapple reported, adding that the fast-rising mobile device maker intends to push out the flagship handset in the early months of 2017. The unpacking will likely coincide with Barcelona-hosted MWC 2017 with the release date set anytime in March.

But more importantly, the Oppo Find 9 is said to impress with Qualcomm's SD 835 running the show. The likelihood is the device will be the first to show off the processing might of the successor to the Snapdragon 820/821, Tech Grapple added on its report.

The blog post came out following an earlier report that indicated the mass production of SD 835 has commenced with Samsung taking charge of the assembly. Qualcomm said the chip will be readily available in the first quarter of 2017 and with Samsung as the manufacturing partner it was assumed that the South Korean tech giant was given first crack at the next-gen processing monster.

And the scenario will permit Samsung to fire up the upcoming Galaxy S8 with the SD 835.

But if the report by Tech Grapple will prove correct, it seems that Samsung will be one-upped by rival Oppo, which according to analysts is fast closing in on the leading Android device maker.

In any case, both the GS8 and Oppo Find 9 are sure to benefit from the 10-nanometer process that the SD 835 is, which will mean that the beastly chip will deliver immense power and enhanced efficiency at the same time, according to WCCFTech. Leaks have indicated so far that SD 835 CPU and GPU muscles will be fired up by an octa-core Kryo 200 and Adreno 540, respectively.

Pitted against each other, the Galaxy S8 on release date is likely the first flagship to sport an all-screen front panel with the control keys and sensor embedded on the curved AMOLED display. The Oppo Find 9, on the other hand, will unbox with 5.5-inch screen that renders in 2K resolution with 64GB of basic ROM and 6GB of RAM support.
