"The Breakfast Club" star Anthony Michael Hall could be spending a long time in prison after an altercation with his next-door neighbor has come back to haunt him. The actor has been charged with felony assault causing serious bodily injury in connection with the incident, which took place in September.

If found guilty of the felony charge, Hall could be facing up to seven years in prison as opposed to the four-year maximum sentence, given that there are special circumstances involved. The incident occurred at his condo complex in Playa del Rey, Los Angeles on Sept. 13 and apparently left the man with a broken wrist and an injured back, according to TMZ.

The altercation with his neighbor was captured by a CCTV surveillance camera and took place after the latter left the front gate to the condo complex open. The situation got worse when Hall started yelling at the man and asked him to shut the gate, after which the argument escalated into a scuffle and prompted the actor to shove the man to the ground.

This is not the first time Hall has had an incident with a neighbor. The 48-year-old was arrested in 2011 for terrorizing neighbors in his condo complex by allegedly yelling obscenities at them and challenging people to fights on the street, according to Fox News.

Hall's claim to fame came in his early teenage years, when he bagged the role of Rusty Griswold in the 1985 comedy classic "National Lampoon's Vacation" alongside Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo. His other credits include films like "Sixteen Candles" (1984) with Molly Ringwald and his most famous film "The Breakfast Club" (1985) starring Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Ringwald.

The actor has since been making steady appearances in movies as well as television and was recently cast in a recurring role in Season 3 of "Murder in the First" and Ben Affleck's upcoming film, "Live By Night."
