The South Korean film "Annoying Brother" posted impressive viewership levels in the four days since its premiere. With more than one million domestic moviegoers, EXO's D.O. and Park Shin Hye's movie was among the top films that was released during the Thanksgiving weekend.
"Annoying Brother" crossed the one million box office viewer count during its debut weekend. Four days after its South Korean release, the film attracted an accumulated 1,037,839 moviegoers as of Nov. 27, Sunday, according to the Korea Film Council's data, as cited by Korea Herald.
Described as a romantic comedy film, the movie even nabbed the first spot at the box office race during its first day showing. Over 200,000 South Korean moviegoers came to watch Park, EXO's D.O. and Jo Jung Suk's film on Nov. 24, Thursday.
The movie tells the story of two brothers, a popular Judo athlete named Doo Young (D.O.) and the swindler Doo Sik (Jo). Separated for several years given Doo Sik's fraudulent actions and imprisonment, Doo Young's older brother used the athlete's sudden health issues as an excuse to secure a parole.
Meanwhile, the "Doctors" actress portrays Doo Young's Judo coach. Aside from mentoring the young athlete and caring for the various needs of the aspiring champion, the Judo coach will try to protect Doo Young from Doo Sik's swindler ways.
With an explosive chemistry between Park, Jo and EXO's D.O., the film caught the attention of many South Korean moviegoers. Photo stills previously released by Magazine M through its social networking services, as obtained by Korean news outlet MyDaily, even showed the camaraderie between the three celebrities.
Both Jo and the EXO singer were photographed with fierce yet funny expressions on their faces, while Park posed between the two actors. One of the images also showed the "Pinocchio" actress showing off an "I love you" hand gesture, while another captured Park trying to cover her face as she appears to be hiding a laugh over her co-stars' weird poses.
"Annoying Brother" was released in South Korea on Nov. 24. Watch the trailer below:
