Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe is all set to release a horror movie and Annabelle Wallis will play the role of Jenny Halsey. ''The Mummy'' reboot is expected to hit the theaters on June 9, 2017.
Not much is known about the role which Wallis is going to play in the movie; however, this American action-adventure horror film is expected to terrify the audience. Wallis will play the role of an archaeologist in the film, and will don the hat of the female lead. Sofia Boutella will play the titular role of the monster and Tom Cruise will be seen as Tyler Colt.
The plot of this movie is set in the modern times, unlike the previous three installments of ''The Mummy'' franchise which took the audience to the mysterious era of the pharaohs and real mummies. In this movie, the ancient queen of that era is reborn and her soul remembers all the unjustified deeds which were done to her in the previous life. She proceeds to avenge the injustice.
According to Comic Book, the writer Jon Spaihts has written some spine chilling scenes for this upcoming movie. "In The Mummy, I think we're going to see the first Mummy film in the entire Universal canon with the true power to terrify," Spaihts stated about the movie.
This movie is the first installment of the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe, and after the recent success of ''Doctor Strange'' which was also written by Spaihts, the expectations have soared up. The expectations from the box-office are high as the initial franchise's first installment ''The Mummy'' made $415.9 million globally.
The original ''The Mummy'' which was released on May 7, 1999 had Brendan Fraser as Richard "Rick" O'Connell. His role was that of an American adventurer, and the entire movie is shot in the deserts of Sahara.
In other news, the heartthrob of millions Cruise, who after splitting with Katie Holmes remained single for four years, seems to have taken a romantic interest in Wallis. The 54-year-old actor Cruise was smitten by the 32-year-old blonde Wallis, Hollywood Life reported. Only time will tell if this relationship will go beyond the success of the movie, or will fizzle out with time.
