Fresh information suggest that Android 7.1.1 Nougat OTA roll out will begin on December 5.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat Release Date - December 5

Google had confirmed in the recent past that it would be releasing Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS in December. Vodafone Australia update advisory has confirmed that the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OTA update will be released on December 6.

The update with build number NMF26F that weighs 650 MB will be first available to the users of Nexus 6P. Considering the time difference between the U.S and Australia, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat will be hitting the U.S. audience on December 5, Android Central reported.

The Android 7.1.1 Nougat OTA update will also include security patch for December 2016. The Android 7.1 Nougat is exclusively available for the new Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones and the upcoming 7.1.1 Nougat update will be hitting other Nexus and non-Nexus devices.

According to Phone Arena, if Android 7.1.1 Nougat is hitting Nexus 6P on Dec. 6, it is likely that other eligible Google devices such as Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Pixel C will also receive the update around the same time. The update will be also hitting Pixel and Pixel XL along with the December security updates.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat Features

Android 7.1.1 Nougat will be released as incremental update for devices running on Android N. It will bring couple of new features such as app shortcuts, 3D Touch like feature found on iPhone, design tweak, image keyboards,  new APIs for various apps and more.

How to Install Android 7.1.1 Nougat update?

Vodafone Australia has mentioned that since it will be an OTA (over-the-air) update, users will see a notification when the update is ready for download and installation. The carrier has advised its user to full charge the device to complete the updating process successfully. Users are also recommended to back up their important data like photos, contacts and SMS before installing the new software update.

Customers who are interested in trying the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update now before its official release next month can sign up with Android Beta Program and install the Android 7.1 Developer Preview that is available for Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones.
