Although the reason behind its delayed release remained unconfirmed and mostly based on social media comments, Ed Boon still managed to respond fans' query about the game. When asked via Twitter to release "Mortal Kombat X" already, Boon simply replied that he is still looking for the "RELEASE key" on his keyboard.

It is believed by many that NetherRealm's divided focus has caused the delay. The attention and hype being given to "Injustice 2" has been cited by some gamers as the reason behind why "Kombat Pack 3" still remains in obscurity. However, according to Attack of the FanBoy, not everyone is working exclusively on that game, thus, sparking some queries on a potential game flaw behind the said "Mortal Kombat" delay.

While most fans are searching for the "Kombat Pack 3" expansion, other gamers chose to focus on the release of "Injustice 2" next year as it has been hinted by Boon that another "Mortal Kombat" characters will have cameo roles in the upcoming "Injustice 2," potentially including Sub-Zero, the movie star Johnny Cage, and thunder god Raiden.  This somehow fits into Boon's previous announcement regarding more characters with every game, according to GameSpot.

Now, there is still no specific reason coming from the developers regarding the said "Mortal Kombat X" DLC 3 delay, but gamers would just have to wait till next year to hear from NetherRealm regarding this matter.
