Fiorentina has been inconsistent in the last six rounds with three wins, two draws, and a loss. The team is currently in the ninth spot of the Italian first division table only a point below eight-place squad Inter Milan and also one point ahead of Genoa, Sampdoria, and Cagliari.

A 10-man Viola squad was defeated by Inter Milan, 2-4, on the road at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on Monday for their first loss in six matches, Goal reported.

Inter scored the first three goals of the contest, courtesy of Marcelo Brozovic, Antonio Candreva, and Icardi in the third, ninth, and 19th minutes respectively.

Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic managed to score a goal in the 37th minute off an assist from teammate Milan Badelj to make it a 3-1 count at the halftime interval. However, team captain Gonzalo Rodriguez was booked with a red card in the first half stoppage time and was then sent off the pitch to give the hosts a one-man advantage.

Viola was able to cut the lead to 3-2 with an undermanned goal by midfielder Josip Ilicic in the 62nd minute with the assist coming from Borja Valero.

However, Icardi netted his second goal of the game to seal the win for Inter in injury time.

Meanwhile, Palermo lost its seventh game in a row to drop to the bottom of the Serie A table with a 0-1 defeat in the hands of Lazio at their own home ground of Renzo Barbera Stadium last Sunday, as per SkySports.

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic netted the lone goal of the match in the 31st minute.

Head coach Eugenio Corini's men were not able to find the equalizer for the rest of the match while Costa Rican defender Giancarlo Gonzalez was sent off in the 86th minute to quench the hosts' comeback attempt.
