Now that Black Friday 2016 is over, it is time to look at the statistics on how two major video game consoles did in terms of sales. The numbers show that the PlayStation 4 outsold the Xbox One in brick-and-mortar stores, while it is the other way around for online retailers across the United States.

Just like the previous Black Friday sales event, a lot of video game consoles from Micrsoft and Sony were sold in a very short period of time. However, unlike last year's sales that was dominated by Xbox, this year's data shows that the two tech giants are on equal ground, according to the sales tracking site InfoScout.

In physical stores in the country, PlayStation 4 gained a sales total of 58 percent. This includes 56 percent sales for the 500 GB variant of the PS4 Slim, the smaller-sized version of the console. The more powerful game device, the PlayStation 4 Pro that houses 1 TB of storage, did not garner much sales -- only 3 percent was recorded. The tracking site also stated that the PlayStation 4 "Uncharted" bundle offered at Target stores and discounted to $212 generated the most number of bundled sales.

The Xbox One has a 42 percent market share, in which sales for the 500 GB slim version Xbox One S produced 34 percent of the total. The 1 TB variant generated 7 percent of the sales.

The data collected showed an opposite result in online sales accumulated by the two video game consoles. The Xbox One tops the sales chart with 55 percent. The share of the base Xbox One S 500 GB is at 34 percent, while the sales of the Xbox One S 1 TB was at 18 percent. The Xbox One 1 TB "Battlefield" bundle was the most sought after package during the period that was marked down to only $299 from $349.

The sales of the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U were not mentioned in the report, but Forbes reported that the $99 Black Friday edition of the 3DS portable gaming device was a successful one.  The item sold out fast in many areas.
