Christmas is coming and people are wondering what to buy with their hard-earned cash. After the release of Xbox One S in the market, people may ask how does Xbox One compare with the new model.

The new Xbox is 40 percent smaller from the hefty stature of the original Xbox One. Xbox One S weighs only 2.9 kgs or 6.4 lbs compared to the 3.5 kgs or 7.8 lbs of the Xbox One. According to Forbes, the new model showcases a new colorway of white with accents of black like Stormtroopers from the game Star Wars: Battlefront game which had just released a new downloadable content that would be available in Dec. 20.

Xbox One S' connection also has a slight edge over the original model as Microsoft included Bluetooth 4.0 and a built-in IR blaster, things that the Xbox One did not have. However, the dedicated Kinect port, which was present in the original model, may not be seen in the new model.

Though there have been changes to the look and the connection of the Xbox One S, the disparity of performance between the two models might not be large. Xbox One S maintained Xbox One's central processing unit of 1.75GHz 8-core AMD Jaguar. The model improved from a 1.31 TFLOP AMD Radeon, 8GB DDR3 RAM graphics processing unit to a 1.4 TFLOP AMD Radeon, 8GB DDR3 model.

However, according to CNET, the new 4K upscaling and High Dynamic Range features does not work with old TV models and only works with new ones. The site added that there is no reason to improve in the new Xbox One if one already owns the original, ranking Xbox One S' performance with an 8.3 score.

Xbox One sells for $249 in its 500GB model while the Xbox One S sells for $299 for its 500GB model.
