As part of AMD's edgy marketing plan, the name of its upcoming Zen CPU has not yet been revealed, and many are expecting that such important detail would likely be released during the speculated hands-on debut at the New Horizon Event a week from now.

According to TweakTown, the original source of the news, it emphasized that AMD's next generation processor would likely be named "Ryzen." As some AMD fans would put it, the so-called new product name for Zen processor could have been derived from two words, Rise + Zen.

HotHardware also mentioned some other potential runner-ups in case Ryzen will not be the new product name of AMD Zen CPU. Apart from Ryzen, AMD also applied a trademark for a number of names that could be used as the official product name for the new AMD CPU family. "ThreadRipper, Vara, Joro, Jitzu and Grok," are some of the names that could potentially be used for the next generation AMD processors.

As of the very moment, we know little of what AMD's next generation processor will offer. However, from the looks of it, the Sunnyvale-based company is confident enough that its next-gen processors will rise above the Intel in terms of performance level.

PCGamers detailed that although we don't know much about AMD's upcoming CPU and its performance,  still the Advanced Micro Devices has quantified a performance target of 40 percent better IPC (instructions per clock) with Zen versus its previous Bulldozer processor.

Basing on the previous unaccounted claims that AMD Zen will likely be on par with Intel Core i7 6900K, then we should be expecting a CPU showdown following product revelation next year at the CES 2017. Guess we would just have to wait and see how AMD will provide for its promise and hype.
