The celebrated actor sat down with Entertainment Weekly and talked about his genius persona in the recently concluded series. Hopkins stated that he was quite oriented with the show since he got the chance to see its 1973 film adaptation. He added that he was sent with a film book for him to snoop around its pages and see if fits him to be a part of its TV reboot. He further explained that he met with showrunner Jonathan Nolan and offered him the role of the theme park's founder, Robert Ford. He then asked Nolan if it will be something like a Walt Disney type of thing to which the series creator responded on a positive note, though added that it will be a whole lot darker.

Moreover, Hopkins even compared his character to a couple of movie characters that helped him in some way to pull off such identity on screen. He mentioned characters such as Dr. Edward  Morbius (Walter Pidgeon) in the 1956 classic, "Forbidden Planet" and Lt. Col. Nicholson (Alec Guinness) from the "The Bridge on the River Kwai" in 1957.

In the interim, The Hollywood Reporter asked Nolan if Hopkins will be reprising his role in the show's sophomore run. The showrunner replied that it would be better not to make any presumptions about the show. He went on saying that he's honored to work with Hopkins adding that it's one of the highlights of his career as director and writer.

The same report also quoted that the show won't be back until 2018. However, if rumors are anything to go by, the second season of "Westworld" might showcase another world as the theme park dubbed as "Samurai World" was made known during the show's season 1 finale.
