Newly-promoted side Cagliari Calcio (6-7-2, 20 points) is scheduled to clash with last season's runner-up squad SSC Napoli (8-3-4, 28 points) in a 2016-2017 Serie A season encounter on Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Sant'Elia Stadium.

Cagliari has been reeling lately with four winless games in their last six outings. With their current struggles, the team has dropped to the 12th spot of the 20-team Italian top flight table, comfortably 12 points above the bottom three relegation area but eight points below the final Europa League qualifying berth for next season presently held by fifth-place team Lazio.
The Sardinians, last season's Serie B champions, was held to a 1-1 draw by fellow newly-promoted team Delfino Pescara on the road at the Adriatico Stadium last Sunday, as per Sporting Life.

Meanwhile, Napoli crushed fellow contenders Inter Milan, 3-0, at their home ground of San Paolo Stadium last Friday, Daily Mail Online reported.
Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski opened the scoring right in the second minute before team captain Marek Hamsik immediately doubled it three minutes later.
Italian winger Lorenzo Insigne completed the three-goal haul of head coach Maurizio Sarri's squad with a left-footer in the 51st minute as they kept Inter scoreless throughout the match.
