The LG G5 is a modular delight, and it appears that next year, the company is planning to bring out a full glass LG G6 with a non-removable battery.

As the year ends, a lot of rumors about upcoming mobile devices start doing the rounds. When it comes to the LG G6 smartphone, many are waiting to see the route that the Korean company decides to take with the device.

Recently a rumor surfaced that LG was planning to use a non-removable battery on the device and this will mean that customers will not be able to swap it out. This particular rumor appeared as a tweet by journalist David Ruddock, and he also stated that the device would have an all glass body similar to what Samsung uses on its flagship lineup.

Ruddock also appeared to indicate that the upcoming LG G6 would have a 3.5mm headphone jack, which was removed this year from the iPhone 7 lineup. The headphone jack is also expected to be removed from the upcoming Galaxy S8 when it releases next year.

With a switch from a full metal body that was used on the LG G5 to a full glass build for the LG G6 it is likely that the device will support wireless charging, Phandroid reported. Wireless charging is currently not offered on most metal bodied devices and hence is unavailable on the iPhone lineup, while Samsung has been offering it for years.

Importantly, this year's LG G5 came with a modular design that allowed for the battery to be swapped out within seconds.  Therefore, the change to a non-removable battery will be the most significant departure in the upcoming device as LG has so far always provided the option to swap out a spent battery with a fully charged one, Android Headlines reported.

However, if the LG G6 does come with a glass body and wireless charging it would do away with the need for a removable battery as users can easily top up power using a charging pad at work. Also with a switch to a premium glass build, it is likely that LG will be using the G6 to take on the upcoming Galaxy S8 from Samsung.

Since these are just rumors about the LG G6 analysts are hoping that the more information about the device will emerge in leaks as it is put into production. As for a release date many expect the LG G6 will release on the same day as the Galaxy S8 and it will happen in February 2017.
