China-based ZUK Mobile announced that the Android 7.0 Nougat OS will roll out for its Z2 Pro and Z1 smartphones early next year.

The ZUK Z2 Pro is already scheduled to have its software update by Jan. 28, 2017, which is also the Spring festival or the Chinese New Year. It was also stated that the release will include the company's ZUI 2.5 (user interface) on top of the Android version, GSM Arena reported.

Under the hood of the ZUK Z2 Pro is a Snapdragon 820 SoC and 6 GB of RAM, so it should be good to receive the planned update and will not have any problem at all. It also recently received a 600 yuan price cut in China and is now selling for 2099 yuan (approximately $304 or Rs 20.690).

The ZUK Z1 will also have its share of the latest mobile operating system, but it will only be a beta version. This is probably due to its aging Snapdragon 801 processor. However, this is the first confirmed device to receive such an update and owners are undoubtedly crossing their fingers that the latest Android version will work perfectly fine with their smartphones so they, too, can experience its new features. The update for the mid-range phone is expected to arrive before Jan. 28, according to GizChina

It was only last month that Chang Chen, the CEO of the Lenovo-owned smartphone manufacturer, revealed that they have plans of updating their Z2 with the latest version of the Android mobile operating system. Strangely, though, the new announcement failed to mention the planned update for that particular model. It is speculated to be still under development and could arrive in the near future. Other reports suggest that the said smartphone device could receive the Android 7.0 Nougat sometime in February.

It also remains unknown if the global versions of the phones will also be receiving such an update, which are preloaded with Cyanogen OS. The roadmap released is exclusively for the Chinese variants of the smartphones. Owners of the ZUK Z2 Pro and ZUK Z1 still have more than a month to wait for the Android 7.0 Nougat update, but could probably start backing up their phone data just to prepare it.
