Manchester United has not met expectations in the first 14 rounds of English top flight competitions after breaking the world football transfer record on Paul Pogba during the recent transfer window.

Their summer acquisitions of Zlatan Ibrahimović, Eric Bailly, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have also added to the anticipations, which may have given Jose Mourinho's squad undue pressure to win it all.

So far, the team only has five wins and 21 points to show, sixth in the league table, as the season slowly reaches its halfway mark.

The Red Devils are coming off another disappointing draw, this time a 1-1 count versus reeling Everton on the road at the Goodison Park last Sunday, as per The Guardian.

Ibrahimović netted the first goal of the match in the 42nd minute but Everton was able to equalize with one minute left before full-time via a penalty kick from defender Leighton Baines to extend United's winless slide to three games.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur crushed cellar-dwellers Swansea City, 5-0, at their home field of White Hart Lane last Saturday, the Telegraph reported.

Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen both scored braces for head coach Mauricio Pochettino's side while South Korean winger Son Heung-min contributed one to complete the team's five-goal masterpiece.

Kane opened the scoring with a spot kick in the 39th minute before Son added to the lead in the first half injury time. Kane scored again four minutes after the restart to give the Spurs a 3-0 lead before Eriksen put the icing on the cake with two goals in the 70th and in stoppage time.

It was Tottenham's second win in their last three games as they settled in the fifth spot of the league table, six points above United.
