Sony, through their new subsidiary ForwardWorks, announced they will be releasing several games for both iOs and Android markets based on iconic Playstation franchises. This has been done to replicate the same success Nintendo has achieved with "Pokemon Go" and the upcoming "Super Mario Run."

Six of the planned games will release within the next financial year beginning in April 2017, Fortune reported. This list includes "Wild Arms," "Arc the Lad," "PaRappa the Rapper," "Hot Shots Golf," "What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord" and more. Several others are also planned, for a total of 10 games such as "Doko Demo Issho" and "Boku no Natsuyasumi."

Of the titles announced, "PaRappa the Rapper" and "Hot Shots Golf" are expected to be more successful that other entries due to their wide appeal. Both "Arc the Lad" and "Wild Arms" were JRPG titles, which are not as popular as they were back in the era of the original Playstation.

"Doko Demo Issho" and "Boku no Natsuyasumi" were never released in North America and they're mobile reboots are not expected to port over either given they fill a small niche for Japanese gamers.

According to The Verge, ForwardWorks is working on a separate mobile project with Square-Enix and it is unknown if their game will be included in the lineup Sony has planned. Many Square-Enix games were released, after all, during the Playstation One era.

Following this announcement a trailer was released for the "Wild Arms" and "Arc the Lad" reboots. The "Wild Arms" game will be focusing on a new story but it will feature characters from the older titles. The "Arc the Lad" game, on the other hand, will be a sequel to the original titles.

Both games will have members of the original staff members working on the reboot titles. No official release date, for Japan and the international market, have yet been announced.
