The midseason finale of "Arrow" Season 5 shocked avid viewers given its surprising twist that brought back a deceased character namely Laurel (Katie Cassidy). Recently, Stephen Amell shared his thoughts about Laurel's return in the CW series.

"Arrow" Season 5 episode 9 ended with a shocking revelation of Laurel's return to the land of the living. Titled "What We Leave Behind," the said episode did not unveil details of how Laurel ended up at the lair. It is also unclear if the lady that Oliver (Amell) encountered is really the Black Canary's alter ego.

Amell shared during a Facebook Live session held on Dec. 8, Thursday, that the mystery surrounding Laurel's return will be unveiled in the bottom half of "Arrow" Season 5. Given the said character's death in Season 4, the resurrected Laurel will have to go through "some sort of vetting process" to prove her identity, according to the actor.

Storyline speculations also indicated that the Flashpoint story arc featured in The CW's crossover event may have also affected Oliver. Despite Barry's (Grant Gustin) revelation that his previous actions removed a daughter from Diggle's (David Ramsey) life, it appears that something in Oliver's past was also changed.

With Flashpoint, Laurel may not have died as initially shown in "Arrow" Season 4. Another story speculation pointed to the Lazarus Pit not being destroyed as it should have been that would help explain Laurel's shocking return.

Meanwhile, "Arrow" Season 5 episode 10 will feature Oliver's plans to re-orient Laurel with the new Green Arrow team and Prometheus. A teaser clip posted on Spoilers Guide showed a conversation between Oliver and Diggle as the Star City mayor shared how Laurel has been doing since he found her inside the lair.

It appears that the resurrected Laurel may be a bit different than the old Laurel that Oliver knew. Despite Oliver's qualms that she may not be Black Canary's alter ego, he will still help her acclimatize to her "new" life by "easing her in" with everything that happened.

In other news, The CW's crossover event for "Supergirl," "The Flash," "Arrow" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" posted high viewership shares. The special crossover "Arrow" episode was watched by 3.55 million viewers while TV ratings were higher than the network's previous crossover event, according to Deadline.

"Arrow" Season 5 will return to the small screens on Jan. 25, 2017 on The CW. Watch the preview for the upcoming episode below:
