Top Funny Comedian The Movie
Mr. Bean will have an entry in the Lunar New Year through the Chinese movie “Top Funny Comedian The Movie.” British actor Rowan Atkinson appears as his famous Mr. Bean character in the movie which would premiere on Jan. 28, 2017.
It is Atkinson’s first movie in China, although Chinese moviegoers are familiar with Mr. Bean. However, it is unknown how long would his role be in the film, China Daily reported.
“Top Funny Comedian The Movie” is about Chinese comedians Guo Degang and Yue Yunpeng and their adventure from Beijing to Macao. Because the two comedians hardly speak English, during the promotional event in Beijing on Dec. 8, Guo said they communicated with Atkinson using body language, mainly gestures and facial expressions. He said it is proof that comedy crosses boundaries.
The movie is a spin-off of a popular TV series, also starring the two comedians. Shanghaiist hinted Atkinson’s role in “Top Funny Comedian The Movie” could be cameo. However, like the six male and one female comedian on the film’s poster, Mr Bean noticeably has a rooster comb on his head too which could indicate equal time with them.
Or it could be similar to the appearance of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan in a new collaboration between Chinese and Russian production studios in which the length of time the two would be seen by moviegoers remain unknown until now.
Although it his Atkinson’s first Chinese movie, it is not his first time in China. He was in China in 2014 at the Shanghai Expo Center. Besides Mr. Bean, also in “Top Funny Comedian The Movie” is retired American boxer Evander Holyfield.
