According to BelMarra Health, the starchy waste left in the water after cooking sweet potatoes could help trim down an individual's weight. Based on a study conducted among mice, it was found out that their body weight decreased after a month of consuming waste water from sweet potatoes. The outcome of the experiment was highly associated with peptide found in the waste water, which holds a secret in fat digestion.

However, the study is yet to be fully accepted by the scientific field and other experts. Test are yet to be done among human subjects to prove its effectiveness in dissolving fats.
