Six months after Niantic released the much-hyped "Pokemon Go," the developing company is now rolling out its first major update to the game by adding more pocket monsters into its Pokemon roster. Aside from adding new critters to the game's roster, the "Pokemon Go" update will also bring a huge make over to some of its iconic creatures.

According to The Guardian, "Pokemon Go" Christmas update will bring Pichu and Togepi, which was first introduced in "Pokemon Gold and Silver"; however, these pocket monsters will not be available on Pokemon maps immediately. It is said that Pichu and Togepi's eggs will begin hatching on Tuesday.

Other than Pichu and Togepi, "Pokemon Go" players are expected to see Cleffa, Magby, Smoochum, Elekid, Igglybuff and others, which is said to be coming to the mobile app over the next few months. It is worthy to note that these announced Pokemon creatures by Niantic Labs were classed as pre-evolutionary forms of other pokemon, also known as "baby" pokemons from second-gen games.

Furthermore, since Christmas is just around the corner, Niantic announced that Pokemon Go players will get to catch a special Christmas Pikachu from today until Dec. 29. The said addition to the game is a way of Niantic thanking fans for their support as the company race towards 2017.

In other "Pokemon" news, "Pokemon Sun and Moon's" first global mission is said to be a failure. According to Polygon, the first inaugural global mission kicked off on Nov. 29 and ended on Dec. 12 was a total failure, as the goal to catch 100 million Pokemon in "Pokemon Sun and Moon" was not met.

A Japanese page recounted the result of the first global mission and showed that out of the 100 million goal, only 16,423,231 Pokemon were caught. It is said that one reason why players missed the target is because they did not register into a specific website. Fans of "Pokemon Sun and Moon" are still hopeful that the next mission will be successful, which may happen later this month.
