Tesla Motors recently released a statement denying the rumors that the construction of its gigafactory is delayed. According to Tesla the construction of the factory in Reno, Nevada is well within the schedule.
The rumor about the delayed construction began when the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) posted a job opening online adding that the additional workers will help speed up the already delayed Tesla project.
The official job posting statement said, "The Tiger Project has been but back 80% at this time. This is all subject to change."
In addition to this, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported that the delay was due to the unprecedented change in the original design plan. The $5 billion factory is set to house the production of lithium batteries that will power Tesla cars.
After the circulation of the news, Tesla spokeswoman Alexis Georgeson quickly denied the delay and added that the plans for the project are still on schedule adding, "It would be incorrect to say that construction is delayed at the gigafactory site."
When asked for a comment, the IBEW denied giving one saying that the non-disclosure agreement they had with Tesla prohibits them from giving out any news related to the project.
The Building & Construction Trades Council of Northern Nevada also declined to issue a comment or give out specific news about the current situation regarding the construction of Tesla's factory. The group also said that a non-disclosure agreement signed with Tesla prohibits them from issuing any comment.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk declared on September 2014 that the company has chosen Nevada to be the site of its newest factory that will mass-produce cheaper batteries that will power its more-affordable series of electric cars, according to CBS Las Vegas.
