The latest details for "Injustice 2" will feature the possible release date for the PlayStation 4 next year and Katana and Animal Man joining the roster.

Several rumors are making rounds regarding the possible months that "Injustice 2" could launch for the PlayStation 4 in 2017. According to GameStop's marketing plan, "Injustice 2" could launch in the first quarter of 2017 which is roughly on January-March alongside "Mass Effect: Andromeda" and "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild".

It is also theorized that gamers will likely gain more interest in "Injustice 2" since Wonder Woman is included in the roster and with her solo film coming on June next year, the sequel will gain a huge boost of attention, Gamerant reported.

In other news, two new DC characters are set to appear in "Injustice 2" as Katana and Animal Man will likely be added to the roster.

Animal Man in the DC comics has the ability to use different animal abilities. He received his powers when he ran into a morphogenic field called "The Red," allowing him to tap any animal abilities in the world and universe. His inclusion to "Injustice 2" could give players an interesting skill set.

Katana on the other hand, possesses the Soultaker Sword. Her weapon has the ability to take the souls of whoever it kills. This ability could present a new element to "Injustice 2", GameNGuide reported.

Previous reports revealed that "Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon teased that Jason Todd/Red Hood could be the next character appearing in "Injustice 2".

Boon tweeted another character petition asking gaming and comic book fan as to which three of the Robins will be joining "Injustice 2". The choices include the current Robin Damien Wayne, Dick Grayson/Nightwing and Jason Todd. Jason Todd won the poll having 57 percent of the votes followed by Nightwing at 25 percent and Damien Wayne at 15 percent.

Red Hood has been one of the few DC characters being rumored into "Injustice 2's" roster with other characters such as Beast Boy, Starfire, John Constantine, Captain Cold, Black Canary, The Atom, Firestorm, Poison Ivy, Ra's al Ghul and many more.

Boon added that characters from the Watchmen will likely be added to the sequel, along with guest characters outside of the DC realm such as Spawn and "Mortal Kombat" fan-favorite Sub-Zero.

So far, the playable characters in "Injustice 2" are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd.

Boon also teased a possible new demo and beta test for "Injustice 2" very soon.

"Injustice 2" will launch sometime in 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
