"Pokemon Go" players already received a Christmas treat when Niantic unleashed a special Pikachu wearing a Santa hat in the wild. Deployed on Dec. 12, Monday, the holiday Pikachu update was released alongside the introduction of the game's new Pokemon babies.

Despite the said update, avid "Pokemon Go" gamers are still expecting a holiday event similar to previous events that featured temporary boosts, as well as the increased Pokemon spawns of selected characters. Recently, data miners from the fan community The Silph Road discovered hidden game codes that suggest that Niantic might release an additional Christmas treat.

Game codes that contained attributes for various gift boxes were found in "Pokemon Go." The contents of the said gift boxes were not disclosed although it hinted of varying rewards given its tiered naming conventions from Bronze, Silver, Gold, as well as Special, Great and Ultra.

At this time, it is unclear if the said gift box codes pertain to a potential "Pokemon Go" shop enhancement where gamers can purchase the said wrapped boxes. However, there was no evidence of a purchase rule included in the gift boxes' game codes, according to the same report.

Speculations indicated that it might be linked to an upcoming holiday event given the appearance of the game code "HasHolidayItems" attached to the said gift boxes. Meanwhile, Niantic has yet to comment on the said gaming leaks.

In other news, Niantic recently deployed patch 0.51.0 for Android and 1.21.0 for iOS devices that addressed a few "Pokemon Go" gaming bugs. In an announcement posted on the game's official website, the company stated that it fixed the incorrect vibration notifications and adjusted the game's day and night modes to accurately reflect a player's current time.

The latest "Pokemon Go" patch was released on Dec. 19, Monday, while the holiday Pikachu will only be available for capture until Dec. 29, Thursday. Learn more about the game's new Pokemon babies in the clip below:
