Furthermore, Banana Culture Entertainment indicated that Solji will be absent from the scheduled award shows and that the remaining members: Le, Hani, Hyelin, and Junghwa will continue and be on stage as four.

Koreaboo reported that EXID will continue as a four-member group as EXID's leader Solji takes an indefinite hiatus after being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. The four members will be participating at the scheduled year-end music awards without Solji.

After a long discussion with Solji and the entertainment company, it has been decided that her health should be a priority, and that her recovery should be the first on the list. Solji will be taking a break and focus on receiving treatment.

As the leader of EXID, Solji plays a huge role in the team, and it is of the agency's concern to do their best to support her during her treatment and to get her back to her best condition again.

On the released statement by the Banana Culture Entertainment, they apologize to the fans for the worry, and thanking them for showing their support for Solji and EXID.

For those uninitiated, Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid overproduces hormones. Weight loss, weakness, irregular heartbeat, and difficulty sleeping are one of the common symptoms of the disease. The condition tends to run in families, which would suggest that there is a genetic link to this. Moreover hyperthyroidism is more common in women than in men. Hyperthyroidism can also cause atrial fibrillation, which is a dangerous arrhythmia that can lead to strokes, as well as a congestive heart failure.

As per WebMD, Hyperthyroidism can be easily treated. Without treatment, hyperthyroidism can lead to serious heart problems, bone problems, and a dangerous condition called Hyperthyroid Crisis (Thyrotoxic Storm). The Thyrotoxic Storm is a rare life-threatening condition that develops in cases of untreated hyperthyroidism
