Seeso renews to air the comedy series "Take My Wife" in 2017. The show stars real-life same-sex married couple Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher who are stand-up comedians themselves.

"Take My Wife" features the lives of the lesbian couple coinciding with their stand-up show in Los Angeles. Fans get to see the couple's experience as they try to balance their work, relationship while breaking the gender barrier.

The first season, which aired this year. starred Maria Bamford, Jonah Ray, Kulap Vilaysack, James Adomian, Seth Morris, Paul F. Tompkins, Ron Funches, Janet Varney, Matt Braunger, Joe DeRosa and Kurt Braunohler, among others. Zeke Nicholson and Laura Kightlinger are series regulars.

The show's holiday special tackled on the idea that some people are not aware that lesbian couples do exist. Butcher, who proposed an activity during the holiday, had them checking in at a hotel. To their surprise, the concierge in the hotel airport they were stranded mistaken them as sisters and not as a lesbian couple.

To add up to the brief holiday special, the couple had indie-pop sister act Tegan and Sara guest on the show. The duo can actually relate to their struggle during the episode.

Recently, Esposito wrote about his marriage with Butcher in an AV Club article. She ended the piece with the words, "We take care of each other." 

With Esposito and Butcher, "Take My Wife" is co-produced by Scott Aukerman and David Jargowsky for Comedy Bang! Bang! Productions. First aired in August, the TV series already aired six episodes from its first season.

Seeso is the newest digital arm of NBC Universal. It is an over-the-top subscription streaming service launched in January. Unlike other subscription services, Seeso only focuses in providing comedy content from original and broadcast TV shows.

Aside from "Take My Wife," Seeso also offers other comedy shows like "Saturday Night Live," "The Tonight Show by Jimmy Fallon," "The Office," "Parks and Recreation," "The Kids in the Hail," and "Monty Python." Apart from this, the streaming channel also releases their original shows likes "The UCB Show," the live-action series "HarmonQuest" and recently ordered two more "Bajillion Dollar Propertie$" seasons, Deadline reported.
