Samsung, it appears, remains committed to the phablet market as another Android mid-range handset will be reportedly dropped by the South Korean tech giant as early next month. The 5.7-inch Galaxy C7 Pro has cleared the FCC certification and is likely set for a January 21 release date in 2017, new report said.

Phone Arena reported that the C7 Pro has been certified by the U.S. regulatory agency, thus clearing the way for the device's commercial debut next month or specifically on the 21st of January. It's highly likely that Samsung will unpack the mid-ranger with the 5.5-inch Galaxy C5 Pro. Earlier, the Asian tech titan has unleashed the 6-inch Galaxy C9 Pro.

According to SamMobile, the supposed January 2017 rollout time of the C7 Pro makes sense as the device has earlier gained clearance from the China's regulatory authorities and the Wi-Fi Alliance.

As indicated in the leaked documents, the mid-ranger is powered by an 8-core Snapdragon 625 chip that is supported by 4GB of RAM and not 6GB (like the C9 Pro) as earlier reported. The internal memory is set at 64GB with provision for memory expansion of up to 128GB. Included too in the SD 625 SoC is an Adreno 506 GPU that will fire up the C7 Pro's 1080p screen resolution.

Powering up everything is a decent 3300mAh battery.

But what looks like as the Galaxy C7 Pro killer feature is the shooting prowess. Samsung not only equipped the device with a 16-megapixel main shooter but the company also provided the same treatment on the front-facing camera. Essentially, the device will be all geared up to against the likes of so-called selfie-optimized smartphones like the Oppo F1s plus and Vivo V5/V5 Plus.

Rumored to be running the Galaxy C7 Pro show, likely the C5 Pro as well, is the latest build of Android Marshmallow but according to Phone Arena the chance is high that both devices will get Android Nougat right out of the box or they will be update to the same version shortly after launch.

As mentioned above, the Galaxy C7 Pro release date will happen January 21 next year thus setting the stage for Samsung to introduce the handset via the Las Vegas CES 2017 that will run from January 5 to 8.
