Sage Northcutt was touted as one of the best prospects mixed martial arts (MMA) has seen for quite some time now. However, the 20-year old fighter has a lot of work to do after succumbing to two defeats in 2016 with only a single win to show for his efforts.

There are still those who believe that "Super" Sage can bounce back after this disappointing year. One of those people happens to be Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight contender Michael Chiesa. "Maverick" now fights in the lightweight division; the same one Northcutt fought in before he decided to move up to welterweight.

It is worth noting that both of the losses Northcutt garnered in this calendar year were as a result of submission. It could be said that his grappling needs a little bit of work in training. This is where Chiesa, a man who has 10 submission wins under his belt, comes into play.

Chiesa has offered to train the much younger Northcutt in the art of MMA grappling via Twitter saying, "‪@sagenorthcutt‪ Your next fight, I will come train your MMA grappling. Just pay for my flight and expenses. DM me and keep your head up bro."

This offer is definitely one worth taking, as MMA Mania reported. Northcutt's potential teacher has back-to-back submission wins over his fellow grapplers Jim Miller and Beneil Dariush.

Northcutt has nothing to lose if he ever decided to take this offer up. At 20 years of age, he definitely still has a whole lot to learn about the sport of MMA. Chiesa can even learn from the youngster so he can be more confident in his standup game.

For his next fight, "Super" is returning to his "real weight class" at 155 pounds. It is not yet confirmed who he will face in his next bout, as his previous loss came just over a week ago at UFC on Fox 22 against Mickey Gall, who has won all his 4 bouts via submission.

UFC champion Conor McGregor's trainer Dillon Danis, who just happens to be one of the most decorated practitioners of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, has gone and said that if he fought Northcutt in his first UFC contest it would be an "easy fight," according to a report from MMA Fighting.
