The SBS historical drama, which only averaged single-digit ratings in South Korea, drew a more favorable response abroad. It has even posted strong viewership ratings in Malaysia and Singapore and has 2.4 billion cumulative views on China's biggest video platform, Youku, Hello Kpop reported.

Many are also yearning for "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" Season 2 after the drama's cliffhanger ending left the viewers with so many questions. Hence, an online petition with the aim of collecting at least 75,000 supporters has been launched.

The said petition will reportedly be sent to SBS' President/Co-Rep Director Lee Woong-Mo. However, as of press time, there is no word on whether or not a second season will happen.
