For those who travel a lot, you may probably have experienced the stresses that come with it. Qeueing at the airport, spending hours in the plane, bus, or train, and dragging around heavy luggage from one exit to another can definitely put a toll in your health. In short, travelling can be exhausting too.

According to BJ Gaddour, creator of Men's Health StreamFit, your muscles adapt to the position you are in when you stay cramped in a plane or bus. It can stiffen your hip flexors, which is not great for the back, Men's Health reported.

To prevent this scenario, it is important to perform a bit of exercise even before your travel. After all, there are so many ways to keep those muscles working and there are plenty of exercises that can somehow prevent back pain while travelling. Even staying in shape while on the road is possible, according to Nerd Fitness.

But Gaddour says there is one move that can lessen stress while being sat down on a chair for hours. Simply stand with your back to a chair and bend your knees slightly. Position one knee on the seat, propping the foot up against the back of the seat.

Contract your glute muscles while your shoulders are down, spine are neutral, and abs are braced, and hold for two to five minutes. Repeat on the other side. Gaddour recommends that travellers do this before and after they embark on a long journey.

Stretching does a lot for people, even those who are already active. If you are one of those who experience pain while spending time on the road, give this stretching exercise a try and see the difference.
