Jon "Bones" Jones was once deemed as one of the most dominant fighters not only in the light heavyweight division, but also in the entirety of mixed martial arts. At one point, some people even believe that he deserved to be called the best pound for pound fighter in the world. However, things have been moving quite slow for the ex-champ ever since a hit and run accident he was involved in last April 2015.

Jones look all set for a comeback when he scheduled to face Daniel Cormier in none other than the main event of UFC 200. "Bones" looked sharped again and was ready to reclaim his belt at the event. However, a failed drug test put him out of the fight as he was replaced by former middleweight champion Anderson Silva and suspended for 12 months.

Now there are talks of Jones moving up to the heavyweight division. He himself has even said that the move up a weight class was eventually going to happen, according to his interview with the Joe Rogan Experience. It is only a matter of the organization finding him an opponent who he deems to be perfect for this scenario.

"I do want to challenge for the heavyweight title, but I'm waiting for the perfect opponent," Jones said in his interview. "I've beaten up a lot of heavyweights, man. Only people who train at (Jackson-Wink MMA) have seen that. I've picked up a lot of heavyweights. I've slammed a lot of heavyweights," he added.

Jones is expected to return to the Octagon some time in July 2017, with his first feasible move to be to reclaim the belt that was stripped from him from reigning champion Cormier. He has also said that he has been devoting more time to the preparation for his return and setting his head straight by taking control over his abuse problems with marijuana and alcohol.

Jones has also said that changing his weight isn't much of a problem, as he is able to cut down by as much as five pounds during weigh-in days. He will fight at around 230 pounds if he ever decides to make the switch to heavyweight, MMA Junkie reported.
