Hollywood has been stricken with numerous celebrity deaths this 2016 with Carrie Fisher as one of the most recent ones. It seems that the toll will not stop from there as Fisher's mom, singer-actress Debbie Reynolds, joined her just a day after the former's passing.
Reynolds was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after a 911 call from her son Todd Fisher's Beverly Hills residence reported that the actress had a stroke, TMZ has learned. The Hollywood royalty did not make it and passed away on Dec. 28, Wednesday, at the age of 84, as Todd, who was with her during the said ordeal, confirmed to the publication.
Moreover, Todd told E! News that her mother was under a lot of emotional stress these past few days. He even mentioned that the final words that Reynolds said to them was she wanted to be with Carrie.
On Dec. 27, Reynolds posted a message on Facebook thanking the everyone who supported her daughter's career. She also expressed her sincerest gratitude to the well-wishers and to those who prayed for her daughter during her well-fought battle.
The silver screen icon was best known for her roles in "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" and "Tammy and the Bachelor" where she played the title role for both. She even snagged an Academy award nomination in the former that skyrocketed her career in the 60s.
Also, Reynolds was part of the musical comedy featurette "Singing in the Rain" that was released in 1952. The movie was deemed as one of the most successful and acclaimed musicals ever filmed that was also incorporated with lively dance routines that were mostly done under the rain.
Reynold's relationship with her daughter was even featured in Carrie's semi-autobiography dubbed "Postcards from the Edge" that was later on turned into a film in 1990. Both novel and movie adaptation depicted her troubled bond with her daughter and even Carrie's substance abuse.
