Aside from the enhancements such as split-screen multitasking and quick replies brought by the Nougat update, EMUI 5.0 based on Android Nougat will bring a major overhaul to the Huawei's EMUI skin.

As stated on Honor's full changelog, the EMUI 5.0 will give users the ability to run different profiles in parallel, such as switching effortlessly between their professional and personal lives, 9to5 Google reported.

Another special feature of EMUI 5.0 is the machine learning algorithm that optimizes processing resources by analyzing the user's mobile usage behavior and prioritizing frequently-used apps. The new EMUI 5.0 also improved smartphone's security features. Now, users can ensure specific apps stay ultra-secure with features like the "App Lock."

In Huawei's press release, the company emphasized the ROM's ability to increase battery efficiency. Through its intelligent power management system, users can manage device's battery consumption through different power saving modes.

At its release, Honor 8 features a 5.2-inch display with 423 ppi pixel density. Its internal chassis consists of a Kirin 950 chip, supported with a 4GB RAM. Its internal memory varies with 32 GB or 64 GB.

In its optics department, the device is equipped with a dual 12-MP rear-snapper lens and an 8-MP selfie camera. Its 3,000 mAh battery features fast charging technology, while other components include USB type C port and fingerprint scanner.

The Honor 8 is currently discounted at $100 off of its original prices. It is pegged at $299 (32GB model) and $349 (64 GB model).

Earlier, Huawei announced that the Huawei Mate 8, Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei Nova and Huawei Nova Plus smartphones will receive the Nougat update sometime in the first quarter of 2017. However, the company has still not announced a particular date for the start of the rollout for the Honor phones.
