For the eight consecutive year, AirAsia maintained its hold of Skytrax's World's Best Low-Cost Airline award. The success of AirAsia can be proven by how it turned from a small state-owned airline into a multi-national aviation giant behind chief executive officer Tony Fernandes. Riders laud the airline for their approachable staff and accommodating service.

2. Virgin America

Despite just being established in 2007, Virgin America has rose through the ranks and now holds the second spot as the best low-cost airline in the world. It is also considered as the Best Low-Cost Airline in the American continent.

3. Norwegian

Norwegian takes the third spot in the world rankings while it has reigned for four straight years as the Best Low-Cost Airline in the European continent. It will soon have a $69 trans-Atlantic flights in the near future from the United States, Business Insider reported.

4. EasyJet

The British low-cost airline has been one of the institutions in the European aviation industry with it standing strong after 21 years of operation. From the name of the airline itself, travelling is made easy with it having 230 Airbuses that fly throughout the continent.

5. Jetstar Airways

This aviation company is the Best Low-Cost Airline in all of Australia for the fifth consecutive year. It stays true to its slogan "Low Fares, Good Times" as passengers praise it for good value for money.

6. Air Asia X

This airline is the long-haul version of the AirAsia. AirAsia X has garnered the Best Low Cost Airline Premium Seat and Best Low Cost Airline Premium Cabin awards even if it has been in the industry for just nine years.

7. WestJet

WestJet upped its standing in the airport ranking site after being at eighth place last year. The 20-year-old Canadian airline flies more than 100 Boeing jets throughout the North America and the Caribbean.

8. IndiGo

This 10-year-old airline has grown to be the largest carrier of passengers in India and it continues to expand. IndiGo is the Best Low-Cost Airline in Central Asia and India.

9. Jetstar Asia

This sister company of the Australian airline Jetstar Airways offers low-cost service throughout the Southeast Asian region. It operates to countries such as the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the likes.

10. Azul Brazilian Airlines

Azul Brazilian Airlines is the youngest airline in this list, having started its operation just eight years ago. It was not included in the top 10 list in 2915 but this Sao Paolo-based aviation company has been expanding as it was recently named Best Low-Cost Airline in South America.
