It is speculated that J. Jonah Jameson in the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general, will be a woman instead of a man and is rumored to be played by "Hello, My Name Is Doris" actress Tyne Daly. Several tweets from Twitter have took notice of J. Jonah Jameson as a woman in the MCU and it seems they agreed with the idea.

However, other rumored speculations revealed that Daly could also play Marvel character Ann Marie Hogg, the director of Damage Control, an organization who cleans up the super hero "messes" that they left after a huge battle, MCU Exchange reported.

Marvel Studios had a habit of diversifying several classic characters from race and even gender, so it will not be a surprise if the studio wants to make "Spider-Man: Homecoming" a very interesting film by changing the gender of one of the most memorable supporting characters in the Spider-Man mythos.

The character of J. Jonah Jameson was popularly portrayed by Oscar-winning actor J.K. Simmons in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man trilogy".

Simmons stated in an interview he is opened to reprise the role of J. Jonah Jameson in the new "Spider-Man" 2017 movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the "Whiplash" star gave petitioners a "reality check" of his own by saying that petition does not come from anybody that is in a position to actually do anything about it.

In other news, it seems that "Community" star Donald Glover's character in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" could the MCU's version of Hobie Brown a.k.a. The Prowler.

It a brief scene in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" were in Glover is spotted with an unknown character holding the alien weapon possible created by The Tinkerer (Michael Chernus) or him. This led to the speculation that Glover's character will be a criminal in the film.

Hobbie Brown in the comics is a teenage genius and takes the costumed identity of The Prowler. Originally Hobbie used The Prowler persona to commit several crimes and had encounters with Spider-Man, but had a change of heart and has offered help from Spidey in making New York a safer place against crime.

Other speculated characters include Robbie Robertson, J. Jonah Jameson's co-editor at the Daily Bugle, Horizon's Lab employee Max Modell and Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales, who has been consistent for Glover ever since he announced that he would like to play Spider-Man in future films, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

Previous reports teased that Gwen Stacy could make her debut in the MCU. This started on the first "Spider-Man: Homecoming" trailer during the school scene were in Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) were looking at Liz Allen (Laura Harrier) as she guides a number of students.

One of the students, who does not look particularly thrilled to be on the tour, is a young, blonde girl with a headband and a sweater vest on over a white dress shirt.

Both the girl's wardrobe and her appearance matches with the traditional depiction of Gwen Stacy in the comics. Gwen Stacy is the first and true love of Peter's life before Mary Jane Watson came along. She is portrayed by "Jurassic World" star Bryce Dallas Howard in "Spider-Man 3" and "Easy A" star Emma Stane in "The Amazing Spider-Man" films.

In spite of the new Spider-Man movies taking place while Peter's high school life, Gwen was never discussed as a consideration for a major role in "Homecoming" due to the fact that "The Amazing Spider-Man" movies both heavily featured her including her supposed death.

Adding to the mystery of that brief sequence is the fact that the blonde girl does not have a speaking line, so it is entirely possible she is just a background actor who happens to be in the shot, and dressed like fans expect Gwen Stacy would dress up. She could also be an Easter egg, planted there to give fans a sense that the Spider-Man world includes Gwen, even if she is not a big part of the movie.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be release on July 7, 2017.
