After weeks of silence and a lot of speculation from the fan community, Theo James has finally broken his silence regarding the fate of the "Divergent" franchise. It has been confirmed that Lionsgate has decided to pull the plug from the theatrical release of "Divergent: Ascendant," the fourth and final film in the franchise. Instead, there are plans to make it into a television movie.

"Divergent" stars Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller have been very vocal about their views on Lionsgate's sudden decision, saying they were surprised to learn that "Divergent: Ascendant" will not make it to the big screen. They also said that it is unlikely that they would return to reprise their role in a "Divergent: Ascendant" TV movie.

Speaking to TooFab, James expressed disappointment about the abrupt end of the "Divergent" franchise. "I think it's a shame that we can't finish the story," James said. "But I think it's evolving in a place where the actors that have been in the three movies probably won't be in whatever it evolves to in the future." Much like his co-stars, it appears that James is also not interested in doing a television movie adaptation of "Divergent: Ascendant."

The 32-year-old actor recently starred as David in "Underworld: Blood Wars," starring alongside Kate Beckinsale. He first appeared as the young vampire and ally to Beckinsale's Selene in "Underworld: Awakening." When asked how long he would be involved in "Underworld," James said, "David's storyline is done. I think his arc has been fully realized."

Meanwhile, Theo James is joining the "Sex With Strangers" play, which will be performing at the Hampstead Theater in 2017, Express reported. He will star alongside Olivia Fox, who plays "an attractive and talented but under-appreciated writer" who is stranded in secluded bed and breakfast with a successful young blogger named Ethan, to be portrayed by James.

There are also rumors that James might be tying the knot with his fiancée Ruth Kearney. Now that they have more time to make wedding preparations, rumor has it that the couple will soon exchange vows in an intimate ceremony attended by family and close friends.
