Although there is a lot of controversy surrounding these phones, the claims are backed by credible evidence.  For example, both Apple and Samsung have already filed patent applications for foldable phones with flexible displays in the past.

That means that even though they might not come as soon as rumored, iPhone 8 Ferrari and Samsung Galaxy X will eventually see the light of day in future. Currently, their proposed designs envision foldable devices with bendy screens.

For Galaxy X, Samsung is said to be working on a phone with a flexible, bendable Super AMOLED display, set to be released in the first quarter of the year, according to SamMobile. The device will feature a continuous touchscreen across its two folding segments.

Its display will fold in the middle of the device through a unique hinge system, which will not affect the structural integrity of the display, its image quality or touch capabilities. The mere fact that Galaxy X will fold at the center has had some mobile analysts asserting that Samsung has adopted the 90's flip-phone clam-shell design, only with a folding display.

For the iPhone 8 Ferrari, rumors point at a folding device similar to portable gaming consoles and more like Samsung's Galaxy X. According to Patently Apple, the company has already acquired a patent for 'foldable display devices" which it has managed to keep under wraps since 2014.

Up to that far, there are is no much information about the two revolutionary devices. But bearing in mind that each company will want to set a pace in this field, mobile analysts expect that either or both will launch this year under grounds of the "drive to get there first."

If they become a reality, iPhone 8 Ferrari and Samsung Galaxy X will be the first flexing and folding handsets in the market. Analysts claim that Apple and Samsung could boost their sales and regain their lost market share since the new phones will be visually and intellectually attractive.

However, it may also mean more competition between the two. Entry into the world of foldable phones translates to a new playing field in the smartphone world and this signifies that more companies will follow suit.
