Qualcomm revealed more details about the Snapdragon 835 specs and features. The chip was the first commercial SoC to be manufactured using the Samsung 10nm "10LPE" FinFET node.

The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC is claimed to be 40 percent lighter on power consumption and 27 percent faster compared to its predecessors, AnandTech reported. The comparisons were made against the previous SoCs that used the 14nm 14LPE node with the same clock frequencies during their testing phases.

Besides the Galaxy S8, Samsung is also expected to power their Galaxy Note 8 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC if the speculations are true. The LG G6 may also use the more powerful and efficient SoC.

Qualcomm is also planning to use the Snapdragon 835 for virtual and augmented reality headsets. The company already has a base model design that third-party companies could improve upon.

Smartphones that will be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will be able to take advantage of the new Quick Charge 4.0 tech, WCCFTech has learned. Together with the new and improved efficiency, the 835-powered devices will be fast and enduring even for the heavy user.

Samsung, LG and other smartphone companies have yet to announce whether which of their future devices will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. They are expected to reveal their new smartphones at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017.
