The Game Developers Choice Awards 2017 Nominees has been announced. The 17th annual event is done in order to recognize and celebrate the best games and developers in the industry.
According to WCCF Tech, the leading game nominated is Playdead's "Inside," which has a total of six nominations. Naughty Dog's "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" follows suit with a total of four nominations under its belt.
There are ten categories for the awards: Best Audio, Debut, Design, Mobile/Handheld Game, Narrative, Technology, Visual Art, VR/AR Game, the Innovation Award, and the Game of the Year. For each category, five games are nominated.
For the Best Audio Awards, the nominees include: "Battlefield 1," Thumper," "DOOM," "Inside," and "Overwatch." For the Best Debut awards, the developer nominees include Heart Machine, Campo Santo, ConcernedApe, Drool, and Night School Studio.
For the Best Design, "Overwatch," "Dishonored 2," "The Witness," "Inside," and "DOOM" are nominated. As for Best Visual Art, "Firewatch," "The Last Guardian," "Overwatch," "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," and "Inside" are nominated.
Meanwhile, the Innovation award has the following nominees: "The Witness," "Inside," "No Man's Sky," "Firewatch," and "Pokemon Go." For the Best VR/AR game, "Rez Infinite," "Superhot VR," "Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives," "Pokemon Go," and "Fantastic Contraption" are nominated.
The Best Narrative has "The Last Guardian," "Oxenfree," "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," "Inside," and "Firewatch" as its nominees. The Best Technology award, however, has "Battlefield 1," "No Man's Sky," "Overwatch," "DOOM," and "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" as its nominees.
As for the Best Mobile/Handheld games, "Super Mario Run," "Clash Royale," "Pokemon Go," "Reigns," and "Pokemon Sun and Moon" are nominated. Finally, the Game of the Year award has the following nominees: "Overwatch," "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," "Inside," "Dishonored 2," and "Firewatch."
According to the Attack of the Fanboy, the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. It will be held at the San Francisco Moscone Center.
