Gosling, Stone and their film "La La Land" was one of the biggest winners during the Golden Globes 2017. The annual awards event identified the two Hollywood stars as the Best Actor and Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy film, respectively.

The film's director, Damien Chazelle, also nabbed the Best Director honor for a Motion Picture and the Best Screenplay Award. With the many songs and impressive musical performances featured in "La La Land," the award for Best Original Score was awarded to the said film's composer Justin Hurwitz, as indicated in the Golden Globes official website.

Moreover, Hurwitz's "City of Stars" composition for "La La Land" was named the Best Original Song for a Motion Picture. Other big winners included the film "Moonlight" which was named the Best Motion Picture in the Drama category, Isabelle Huppert as Best Actress in a Drama film for "Elle" and Casey Affleck who won Best Actor in a Drama film for "Manchester by the Sea."

Hollywood veteran Meryl Streep was also honored during the Golden Globes 2017 with the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Known for her diverse roles in films such as "the Devil Wears Prada," "The Iron Lady," "Julie & Julia," "Mamma Mia" and more, the multi-awarded actress gave an inspirational and rousing speech that slammed U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

Despite not stating Trump's name, Streep mentioned an incident where Trump previously mocked a reporter with a disability, according to CNN. She commented on how hearing about the said incident stunned her and broke her heart.

Streep added, "This instinct to humiliate when it's modeled by someone in the public ... by someone powerful, it filters down into everyone's life because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same ... When the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose."
