"Long War" is one of the popular mods for "XCOM: Enemy Unknown" and "XCOM: Enemy Within." The mod will get a sequel called "Long War 2" in "XCOM 2," a turn-based tactics video game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games as the sequel to the award-winning strategy game, "XCOM: Enemy Unknown."

Fans of "XCOM 2" game, which was released as part of the upcoming Humble Bundle, can expect to enjoy the "Long War" mod to the PC. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux in February 2016, and for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in September 2016, according to Steam Community.

The turn-based tactics video game was made available for Microsoft Windows, Linux and OS X in February 2016, and for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in September 2016. "Long War 2" which is highly anticipated mode will be the third and last and gamers will enjoy it for free.

In addition to revealing the "Long War 2" mod, Long War Studios also announced that it will continue with its business operations under a new name, Pavonis Interactive. On its new website, the video game company also confirmed a pair of new projects and promised the fans an entirely original work.

On the website, "Long War" mod design lead and studio founder John Lumpkin noted that the name change reflects the company's desire to work on more than just XCOM mods. The post notes the studio's move to release a totally separate strategy game called Terra Invicta project with plans for other "independent original titles" underway.

"Long War" received a very good welcome by the community, critics, and XCOM developers themselves and this is seen as the reason "XCOM 2" would offer mod support and a toolkit from day one. The Pavonis developers have already availed two free DLC packs under the arrangement, the "Perk and Laser Pack" and "Alien Pack".

The "Perk and Laser Pack" was available for "XCOM 2" on day one. The developers also delivered the "Toolbox" mod back in April. XCOM 2 is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The Long War 2 mod will only be available to the PC community.
